And also I would like to thank all of you for the numerous prayers you’ve shared with our family during our trial with my dad-in-law’s struggle with his heart disease. Thank you also for all the kind words, and most especially the concern that you have made me felt during the time I needed it most. Here in our forum, and in the facebook, you my friends have made me feel that I am not alone and that there are friends that I could hold on to. You’ve been a great part in making our family strong and our dear Lord has answered our prayers. Daddy Joven is now out of the hospital, he is recuperating, and we are still in prayers that he copes up with his present disabilities and that he gains patience in dealing with his rehab, and that he will have strength to battle whatever it is that is causing him pain.
Just want to share what our family has experienced last week. My dad-in-law was scheduled for an open heart surgery last week, suppose to be on Monday, Oct.12. But before that day, on Wednesday, Oct. 6 his blood pressure is very low. The doctors were already worried about his condition. He was given medicine to make his blood pressure go up. But then, the medicine has a bad effect on dad’s heart rate – it began to beat so fast that he suffers from chest pains. We were in this dilemma and worry set in on us. The doctors gave him morphine so he could sleep and arrest the chest pains. They looked for a medicine replacement for “lopamine” (could not really remember if this is the correct med) since he is not responding well to this. Finally dad became well when they switched to another med to stabilize his blood pressure. We transferred dad to the ICU, so his condition could be monitored well. During this time, my husband and his siblings were really convincing my dad-in-law to have the operation soonest. I think he has so many worries and apprehensions in his mind, that needed re-assurance and Sunday came, we all went to mass at the Medical City chapel, and when we came back to dad he is already with fever. This caused the one-day delay in his operation sched. He was so uptight and cranky, since he really wanted to continue with the operation, and get rid of the chest pains and difficulty in breathing. While we get him ready with his operation, the rest of the clan is busy in fulfilling the blood donation requirement of Medical City – they instructed us to get 36 blood bags. What an awful lot! When we were able to complete 21 donations, they mentioned that this will be sufficient for dad’s operation. He is finally scheduled for operation on Oct.13. The family and our friends stormed heavens with our prayers for dad’s successful operation – that his aortic valve replacement and bypass be a success. His operation lasted for six hours; he was brought in the operating room at 1pm, and finally was brought to the recovery room at 8pm. His heart surgeon talked to my husband, and informed him that dad is still on observation. At 10pm, he summoned my husband, since dad is bleeding more than he should be. The heart surgeon informed Jett that anytime the surgical team may go back to the operating room for daddy Joven. This is the most trying time for us, we prayed hard – me at home with the kids, and Jett together with his brother and sisters at the hospital. It took me so many times to pray and start and finish the rosary. It was then 230am of Oct. 14. At almost three in the morning, a miracle happened. The bleeding of daddy stopped, and he began to show signs of development. With this good news, I was able to sleep. And one thing lead to another, that on the following day, he was again advised to be operated on, this time the doctors assessed dad’s condition and recommended that he needs a pacemaker, so on Oct. 15, he was again operated on. The family and close friends made another round of prayer brigade, and also asked for 11 more blood bags from donors. We were able to complete all the blood donations and dad’s 2nd operation was again a success. He is now in Antipolo, recuperating.
The family is so blessed, that our dear Lord has answered our prayers, and has allowed us to spend more time with daddy Joven. We are so grateful to all of our relatives and friends who have shared with us our trials and have provided us with strength, and courage. WHAT DID WE LEARN FROM THIS EXPERIENCE? IT IS TO HAVE OUR TRUST AND FAITH IN THE LORD. HE IS SO GOOD. HE KNOWS WHAT IS BEST FOR US!
Take care, and God bless!
